Monsoon To Reach The Capital In Four Days

The Meteorological Department has stated that after the pre-monsoon showers in the city the full Monsoon season will start in the capital in four days. Met. Dept. has said that Monsoon is set to reach the city by a day or two ahead of it normal date of June 28.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official said, “A circulation is forming in Bay of Bengal. It’s expected to develop into a low pressure system, move inland and push the monsoon into Delhi areas of east Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.”

The official has said that the northern limit of the Monsoon currently lies along the fringes of west UP, passing through Surat, Ratlam, Jhansi, Lucknow, Dehradun, Una and Jammu. Other Condition, too are ripe for the Monsoon’s advance.

“In addition, upper air cyclonic circulation over south Konkan coast could also bring in moisture for the Arabian Sea,” the official added.

The good rain forecast will be a relief for the city people as they have been facing high heat since past few days, although occasional rains has controlled the increasing temperature.

Even though the Monsoon arrived eight days later than its normal date of June 1, it has made quiet a good progress, according to experts.

IMD has forecast 106% rainfall in July and 104% in the month of August. However, the department has said that the June will end with a deficit as 17% below normal rainfall has been recorded in the country in June and 25% deficit registered which is steadily decreasing, officials said.
