In an horrific incident, occurred at the Buldhana district of Maharashtra, 12 minor tribal girls have been raped by their teachers as well as headmaster.

Media reports said that these girls, aged between 12-14, were studying in boarding school, Ninadhi Ashran School in Hiverkheda in Buldhana district, 40 km far from Mumbai.

The police has successfully arrested 11 teachers for raping the minor girls, in which 3 have also become pregnant.

“The incident occurred just before Diwali. We have sent women police officials to talk to the victims and take their statements. So far, 10 teachers have been accused, and seven have been arrested,” said Superintendent of Police, Buldhana, SD Baviskar.

Media reports added that the horrific event came under spotlight only when the girls returned to their homes to Halkheda village in Mukhtainagar taluka, Jalgaon district.

According to the Deputy Sarpanch of the village the girls were complaining about stomach pain and were feeling heavy in the stomach. They were taken to the hospital, where doctors revealed that they were pregnant.

Reports said that all the girls have been taken to a hospital in Akola district for further treatment. Deputy Sarpanch, by lodging the complaint against the teachers in Khamgaon police station in Buldhana district, has demanded capital punishment for the culprits.

Former minister in Maharashtra government as well as MLA of Mukhtainagar Eknath Khadse has asserted that  everything which is possible to help the girls has been done.  However, Chitra Wagh of Naionalist Congress Party's women's wing president, has demanded resignation of Maharashtra Women and Child minister Pankaja Munde as well as Tribal Minister Vishnu Savra.
