Goa Is Still Not Prepared For BRICS Summit

The Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa (BRICS summit is to take place in Goa on 16th and 16th October and with a barely a period of two week, the host state Goa is still unprepared for the summit, according to the report published in leading newspaper daily.

The government had planned to widened the Margao- Colva road to four lanes, making it like the iconic Rajpath in New Delhi. Although the authorities had initiated the work of removing encroachments and cutting trees along 3.5-4km stretch, currently, the government is not looking in the stage of finishing the project in time.

According to the sources, the government has been taken over by the government and such as their job was to monitor the progress. They said that, considering the mature of the work 15 days was to short a period to complete the road in time for the prestigious summit.

The widening work to 4-lanes required overhauling existing infrastructure both above and below the ground.

Reports said that the electricity poles and transformers are now being shifted, water pipelines are also to be moved. The entire road has to be dug, soled, rolled and allowed to settle and then hot-mixed. The government does not have required period of time to complete all these works.

However, reports said that along the Colva to Cavelossim stretch of road. Reports added that although many kilometers are yet to be covered, a large part of of hot mix is complete on the stretch. But, sadly, in some places hot-mix has peeled off.
