BJP Negative On Stopping Grants To English Medium Schools In Goa

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa has reiterated its stand that it won’t stop grants to English medium schools in Goa on Monday, opposing the view of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-led Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) that BJP government in GOa should stop giving grants to English medium schools in Goa and should promote Marathi and Konkani language as Medium of Instruction (MoI)

BJP MP Narendra Sawaikar while speaking with reporters said, “BJP is a political party and we believe in taking all people along. We respect the decision of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) to support mother tongue, but our stand on MoI will continue to be the same.”

Earlier, RSS ‘Goa Prant’ held a mega convention in the state for appealing people to vote against BJP government in the upcoming assembly election. Laxman Behre, RSS’ newly appointed Goa Vibhag Sanghachalak had also demanded that BJP should withdraw grants to English medium school.

Sawaikar added that the party has tremendous respect for RSS and said, “RSS is one of the rewarded and respectable organizations, not only in India but across the world.”

The BJP MP also said that recent appeal of Subhash Velingkar-led ‘RSS Goa Prant’ not to vote for BJP in the election will not have any impact on party’s performance in the state. He said, “BJP will win election because of its work. Our work will speak and we are confident of winning 2017 election.”
