Dharavi Police have arrested a 22-year-old zari worker, Mohammad Sitare Sheikh on Friday for the charges for raping a 14 years old girl. The incident took place in Dharavi on last Sunday at around 6 pm.

According to Cops, when the girl’s parents left to market the incident took place on August 10, the girl was sleeping alone in the house and her parents left to the market. When the girl’s father returned home he found Mohammad Sitare Sheikh in his house (who is a Neighbour) and later her daughter informed him that he had raped her.

Dulare Haahi the brother of Sitare knowing about the incident promised had promised the girl’s parents that he will arrange a marriage between the two. The girl’s father waited till August 15, but when no one showed up, he took his daughter to Sion Hospital.

Anil Gaikwad, investigation officer, said, “The police arrested the accused and he will remain in custody till August 20. The investigation is still going on.”
