Rs. 4 Lakh Seized In Odisha In Fake 2,000 Rupee Notes

The Bhubaneshwar police has arrested a youth for circulating fake Rs. 2,000 notes and seized Rs. 4.8 lakh fully in newly unveiled Rs. 2,000 denomination note under the government’s demonetization move.

A senior police official said that a person identified as Madhusudan Meher of Jharsuguda was arrested while he was using the fake note at the petrol pump. The petrol pump staff handed him over to the police.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Jharsuguda, Bijay Nanda informed, “The note is color photocopy of an original Rs. 2,000 currency. A case has been registered at Jharsuguda Police Station and Investigation is underway.”

Meanwhile, in another incident, in Bolangir district Police seized over Rs. 12 lakh from the residential place of a recruitment agent of migrant laborers, famously known as Dadan Sardar. The case against him has been registered for stashing huge amount of cash.

Bolangir SP Ashish Singh said that the police raided the house of Khirasagar Bag at Tingra village, which comes under Saintala Police Station last night and caught Rs. 12,75,900.

However the police raided the house on tip-off of having fake currency, but they could not find any.  Among the total amount which was seized, Rs. 2,000 denomination notes were also stores, summed up to Rs. 4.8 lakh.
