PM Narendra Modi Likely To Be Rajya Sabha Amid Strong United Opposition

After the all parties in the opposition got united against the decision of the government of banning high denominations notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 and demanded response from the Prime Minister, PM Modi shocked the opposition by being present at the Lok Sabha and now, according to the reports, he will be attending Rajya Sabha debate today in the ongoing winter session of the Parliament.

Earlier, the government was saying the instead of PM Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will respond to the the debate. However, the government has now changed its stance and is now reaching out to the opposition to find the truce, according to the reports.

Ananth Kumar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, also met senior leaders of the parties in opposition such as Ghulam Nabi Azad of Congress and invited them for meeting headed by Home minister Rajnath Singh to find the solution of the deadlock. No business have taken place since commencement of the winter session, six day ago.

Meanwhile, PM Modi has assured his party members that people are supporting the decision of demonetization. The Prime Minister conducted the survey through his mobile application. Although PM Modi attended the debate in Lok Sabha on Wednesday on the demand of opposition, no discussion took place as the opposition continued to disrupt the proceedings in the house.

Senior Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that on the demand of the opposition, Prime Minister was present on Lok Sabha now why the opposition is still not allowing the house to function. He also said that the outstanding performance of BJP in recent bypolls shows that people are behind the government over the decision of demonetization.

The government is reaching out to the opposition to let the house function it has some very important bills which needs to be discussed in the parliament. Government has set the deadline of April 2017 for the major tax reform bill, Goods and Services Tax. The new rates needs to be passed in both the houses, especially in Rajya Sabha, where the government is in minority and needs the support of opposition.
