Shashank Manohar Quits To Continue As ICC Chief

Shashank Manohar, today quits the post of BCCI chief as executive board of the global body passed a rule that the ICC chairman should be of Independent nature and not allowed to act in dual role keeping in mind the position of country’s cricket board chief.

Earlier, reports were that Manohar will quit the post according to the suggestions made by Lodha Panel but few BCCI officials were unhappy with this move. They believed that Manohar elected as a president of the board, ahead of all the candidates, keeping in mind his ability to clean the game. Manohar has done a good job and if he leaves the post prematurely, it won’t do any good and will harm the sport in the country.

According to the reports, Manohar was in talks with his colleagues in BCCI about his plans to vacate the post at least two months ago.

Unconfirmed reports also states that Sharad Pawar will be made the new BCCI president. However, Anurag Thakur, Ajay Shirke and Rajeev Shukla, too, are in the race.
