India Wins Second Test Against NZ; Pocketed Series By 2-0

The Indian Team has managed to win the Test series against New Zealand as it won the second Test match at Kolkata by 178 runs. With the series win, India has now become no.1 team in the Test rankings.

In the second innings, Indian bowlers managed to stop NZ batsmen at 197 while they were chasing mammoth target of 376, put on board by the Indian batsmen, earlier, with the help few partnerships by the tail enders.

The two mystery spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets each and got the superb help from the pace bowlers, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Shami took important 3 wickets, while Kumar took one.

Although the opening partnership of Tom Latham and Martin Guptill, in the second innings helped NZ in providing good opening score, finishing the first session without any loss, in the second session India managed to pick 3 important wickets.

In the third session, however, proving the tradition of the Eden Gardens right, India picked 6 wickets and won the match by a huge margin.

Earlier, starting from the overnight score, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Wriddhiman Saha continued Indian batting and with help of the Saha’s second fifty in the match, India managed to give the huge target of 376 to the NZ batsmen.

Leaving Pakistan behind, India has now become the no. 1 team in the Test ranking by winning the 250th home test. India will now face NZ in Indore for the third Test from October 8.
