Doctors support the PCMC commissioner Shirkar Pardeshi

Pune and pimpri Chinchiwad cities's doctors have extended their support to the Pimpri Chinchiwad Municipal Commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi after the latter received threats asking him to stop the demolition of unauthorised constructions.

Sanjay Gupte, president, Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists Society of India along with 30 other doctors from both the cities have met Pardeshi at his office in the PCMC building, Pimpri on Thursday. Baban Dolas, former treasurer of Pune Ophthalmological society; Amit Kharat, secretary of Pune chapter of All India Radiologists Association and Shrihari Dhore Patil, BJ Medical College Alumni Association were also present in the delegation of doctors at the PCMC.

The doctors have asked the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan to provide security to the commissioner. They have also appealed to him that they would stand by and support pardeshi for taking a lawful stance on the unauthorised constructions.

The commissioner had received an anonymous threat in a letter on 20th July demanding him to stop the anti-encroachment drive which would demolish all the unauthorised constructions in the city. One policeman with a weapon was provided as security immediately on the next day.
