PV Sindhu Settled For Silver In Rio Olympics

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has been settled for silver after she got beaten by the Spaniard Carolina Marin in women’s singles final even of badminton in Rio Olympics on Friday at Riocentro Pavilion.

PV Sindhu, who managed to fight back at the first after staying behind and won the first game, were quite defenseless in second as well as the third game. Marin defeated Sindhu 19-21, 21-12 and 21-15 and won the Gold medal at the Rio Olympics.

Sindhu now has joined shooters Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Vijay Kumar as well as the wrestler Sushil Kumar, as India’s only silver medalists in Olympics.

In the first game, Sindhu was way behind than world no. 1 Marin first at 3-7 and then 6-8 and 10-13. At 19-16, it was Marin’s game but Sindhu fought back and managed to win the first game from 17-19 to 21-19.

However, Marin immediately came back in the second game and scored a comfortable lead of 8-2. At the last she had 8 game points with her and capitalizing on it she comfortably won the second game 21-12.

In the third and decisive game, Marin took a lead at initial stage but Sindhu was fighting back with her amazing skills and it was 18-14 when Marin needed only three points to secure gold in Rio Olympics.

Despite Sindhu’s incredible effort, Marin won the match eventually, denting the hopes of billions of Indian fans that Sindhu would grab the first gold medal for the country in Olympics.
