Anti-Maoist operations destroyed 14

The security forces exchange of fire along with Maoists have destroyed Fourteen Maoists in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, the incident took place during Saturday morning. Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of police south-west range, Devadutta Singh mentioned that the encounter took place inside Salaikota forest under Padia police station limits.

Anti-Maoist operation in the Saliakota forest

Mr. Devadutta  furthered saying that huge treasures of arms had also been seized from the spot. On the contrary details were awaited due to reason that exchange of fire was still prevalent between security personnel and the Maoists.  Moreover, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh was at the encounter spot, leading the security personnel in this continuing anti-Maoist operation. Mr. Devadutta said that the personnel of Malkangiri district police had went unsteadily upon this major camp of Maoists during an anti-Maoist operation in the Saliakota forest. The police reciprocated when the Maoists fired at them leading to death of 14 Maoists. Till present time there have been no reports of any injury or casualty from police side. Overpowering anti-Maoist operations are prevalent in Malkangiri district since beyond a month time. Due to the impact of the operations beyond 25 Maoists known to have surrendered in the district.  

Destroyed the top Maoist leader

Golla Ramullu alias Madhav, who's known to be top Maoist leader and was involved in several cases of violence, including killing of 38 security personnel in Balimela reservoir on June 29, 2008, was killed during an exchange of fire with personnel of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Malkangiri and Koraput districts on August 23.
