A teacher at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was suspended on Thursday for sexually harassing a girl student. According to reports the post-graduate student had sent a written complaint via e-mail to the vice-chancellor and registrar of the university. In her complain the student alleged that she has been sexually harassed for quite some time by the chairman of department of law.

The post-graduate student had complained against Mohammad Shabbir two days ago. The university's women grievances committee found Shabbir to be guilty of sexually harassing the girl student prima facie, so he was suspended with immediate effect.
