Temple for Modi

The mad admirers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have decided to build him a temple. Without any delay, they put the thought into action, which resulted in a synagogue in Kothariya Village, 130 km from Ahmedabad. The temple which was funded by 300 devotees of Modi would be inaugurated on February 16.

The Om Trust that governs the temple said it expected a large crowd on that day. The trust has planned to conduct daily worship there.

"It is a first of its kind in Gujarat, temple of a living person," said Jayesh Patel, leader of Om Yuva Group. "Members of our organization have been worshiping Modi as God from the time he contested his first Assembly Election from Rajkot and became the Chief Minister of Gujarat. We are very much impressed by the work he did as the Chief Minister and the work he is doing now as the Prime Minister, so we decided to construct a temple for him. Initially we had placed a framed photo. Now we have installed an idol, spending Rs 1.7 lakh and altogether the construction costs around Rs seven lakh. Our members, earning from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 a month, contributed," he added.

Patel stated that the 350 sq yard plot of land where it stands was provided by the Kothariya Gram Panchayant ten years ago for religious purpose. The village is now part of Rajkot Municipal Corporation.
However the much fumed Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep displeasure at a temple dedicated to him being set up in his home state of Gujarat.

In early morning tweets today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "Have seen the news about a Temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking & against India's great traditions," the PM tweeted, and also, "Building such Temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally, it made me very sad. Would urge those doing it not to do it."

The PM asked those building the temple to divert the time and resources they have "towards fulfilling our dream of a Clean India." Before he swept the national elections in May last year and moved to Delhi as Prime Minister, PM Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat for 13 years.
