Email says LaMo meets high-profile Indians at London pubs and thanked them

It seems that the high profile idiots and unethical morons are untouchable of law in our country. While NDA and UPA throwing mud one on another, graft-tainted former IPL boss made a comfortable living in London. The Sushma-LaMo controversy might be the media fodder, but he is on a free run and getting his business done under the wraps silently.

In a recent revelation, the former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi reportedly thanked a series of big shots for helping him in his emergency travel documents granted by UK officials. An email of the same leaked now. The mail was dated back to August last year.

The A-listers include top politician Sharad Pawar; Swaraj Kaushal, a lawyer married to Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj; and controversial entrepreneur Vinod Goenka, who is on trial for corruption in the telecom or 2G scam, one of India's largest financial swindles.

When asked why Mr Modi thanked him, Mr Goenka told media that they had spent some time together in London at "pubs and PTA meetings" but insisted that he is "not that close to Mr Modi". However, there is wide-ranging evidence of close links between the two businessmen. Mr Modi's Instagram account shows him attending the Istanbul wedding this May of Mr Goenka's nephew, Yash Goenka. Vinod Goenka told media the invite was extended by the bride's family and "Modi was only there for a short time." But newspaper archives also show that in 2010, Vinod Goenka and Shahid Balwa, who is also an accused in the telecom scam, flew in a private jet of Mr Modi's to Abu Dhabi.

Another top player Sharad Pawar also denounced the comments. The former union minister and once Indian cricket's powerful decision maker, claims that he was unaware of Mr Modi's thank you note as his subordinates will oversee the account. The politician has, however, admitted that he met Mr Modi in London a month ago.
