Shankaracharya rejects Sai Baba as God

Controversy happens to be part and parcel of Indian society and this one is no exception. Dwarakapeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand during Monday ignited a controversy when he said that Sai Baba should not be worshipped as he was a human being and not a God.

Sai Baba should not be worshipped as he was a human being and not a God, said Swaroopanand, adding his temples should not be built. Additionally, news websites quoted him as saying it is a conspiracy of some foreign organisations which are making money. They don’t want Hindu community to unite.

Shankaracharya also rejected to regard Sai Baba as the epitome of Hindu-Muslim unity, saying if it were the case, the spiritual man would have been revered by Muslims with as much devotion as Hindus.

Additionally known that Shankaracharya known to have expressed an opinion that in Sanatan Dharma, there are said to be 24 avataars (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu, In Kalyug, there is no mention of other avataars than Kalki and Buddha. As an inference from this fact, Sai Baba can certainly be not an avataar. He added that Sai Baba should not be considered a guru and an ideal due to the fact that he was a non-vegetarian and advocated the practice of circumcision.

Shankaracharya also demanded as right that a number of temples devoted to Sai Baba are built across the country to distract attention from Ram Temple movement in Ayodhya.

Now, instead of getting agitated with the controversial statement by the Guru, one must realize one simple yet important factor here, and that's the power of faith. It's just like, there would be enumerable people who may or may not pray him otherwise have faith in him, likewise in the case of Sai Baba its needn't be any exception. That's because earnest faith is the key element of fact here, nothing can be more important than that! Why to bring in clash among religions for no reason? And if that's the case, then one must also consider the quote given the father of the nation- God has no religion! Can we consider that???

Moreover, if he has to say that distracting attention from Ram Temple movement in Ayodhya was the major reason behind this, then this very statement given by him is enough to create intense chaos among the believers and non-believers of Sai Baba.

Does he have any answer for it?
