US Open: Leander Paes, Rohan Bopanna Out; Sania Mirza Advances

Indian Tennis stars Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna are out of the ongoing US Open tournament, while Sania Mirza along with her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig progressed in the mixed doubles event.

Leander Paes and his partner Andre Begemann played well but lost to French-Israeli pair of Stephen Rboert and Dudi Sela by a close margin, 6-2, 5-7, 4-6.

On the other hand, Rohan Bopanna with his Danish partner Frederik Nielsen lost brutally to American Brian Baker and Kiwi Marcus Daniell 2-6, 6-7 (5-7).

However, Bopanna, in his mixed doubles event, partnering with Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski, defeated US pair of Noah Rubin and Jamie Loeb 7-5, 6-4.

Sania Mirza, partnering with Dodig, the pair who had won US Open Mixed Doubles Title in 2014, played amazingly and won against US pair of Donald Young and Taylor Townsend in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in just 62 minutes.

India’s Pranjala Yadlapalli, in the junior girls’ event defeated American Victoria Emma 6-3, 6-2.
