An Indian family including son and his parents who were visiting from India has been killed in an accident after being brutally hit by a pick up van which was being driven by the drunk driver, reports said.
The victims who have been identified as Chandan Gavai and his parents Archana Gavai, 60 and Kamalnayan Gavai, 74, have been died after being hit by the drunk driver’s van, which is also been identified as Gustave Geyer. The accident happened at Yaphank Middle Island road in Long Island late Monday night. Both the parents were announced dead on the spot whereas Chandan was announced dead at the hospital.
According to CBS news, Geyer had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. He has been announced dead on the spot. The Suffolk County Police said that the elder Gavais were vising the US from India.
According to the reports, Gavai’s 32-year-old wife is suffering with life threatening burns and head injuries as both the vehicles caught fire after the collision. Only the couple’s 11-year0ld son has survived the accident as is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The family members were expected to arrive from India this week to make funeral arrangements and to take care of baby, reports stated.
