WMBCA Celebrates Durga Puja In Grand Rapids City In Michigan

The Western Michigan Bengali Cultural Association (WMBCA) of Grands Rapids in Michigan celebrated Durga Puja on Saturday with almost 500 people, who attended the event that lasts for the entire day with Puja, cultural events and delicacies prepared by the local Indian restaurants.

The entire Puja was done by Arun Rajgopal, which commenced on 9 am in the morning. The festive spirit was at its peak as the Durga mantras, shlokas, stotras and stutis accompanied by blowing of conch, drum and gong beats changed the whole atmosphere to a great spiritual experience.

In the cultural program started at 8.30 pm in the evening chief guest Abe Carrillo, Director-Inclusiveness & Diversity, Herman Miller Inc., spoke about the traditional richness of India.

The final musical performance by Aritra Dasgupta and Swagata Nag, who came down from India and enchanted the audience with their melodious renditions of popular Hindi and Bengali numbers.
