Sixteen Deaths Reported As Lord Ganesha Immersion Ends In Maharashtra

Although people celebrated the ending of 11-day Ganeshotsav by immersing thousands of Lord Ganesha idols, 16 Visarjan-related deaths has been reported across the state in the 24 hours to Friday morning, according to the officials.

Two persons are missing during immersion ceremonies in Pune, whose details are not available, officials added.

Seven people dies in Nashik during immersion ceremonies in the district, which was lashed by heavy rains since Thursday.

Victims are identified as army soldier, Sandeep Shirsat, and another local, S. Rameshwar, drowned in a pond in Musalgaon, while Nilesh Patil, Bhushan Kasbe, Sumit Pawar, Amol Patil and Roshan Salve died in different villages in the district.

In Wardha district, three students drowned in river while clicking selfies with Lord Ganesha idols. One of their friend was rescued from the waters by the locals.

In an another incident civic worker lost his life in Nanded and a school teacher Parmeshwar Shengule from Waluj drowned in Godavari river during immersion ceremonies.

In Jalgaon, two youths were drowned in Kaang river. One is missing, while the dead body of another was found.

A 27-year-old woman Manisha K. Masaram lost her life after she intervened in the brawl over preparing Prasad between his brother Lokesh and one another person Darsahn in Nagpur.

In Nagpur’s Pachpoli area, on Tuesday, a 5-year-old girl Priya S. Mahule died after she fell into an unattended boiling cauldron of daal being prepared as the part of ‘MahaPrasad’ during the ganeshotsav at Buddha Nagar. Priya suffered with 80 percent burns. She succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning.
