Parole To Former Underworld Don Arun Gawli Refused By Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court has refused parole to the former underworld Don Arun Gawli, who is currently serving life imprisonment in Nagpur Central Prison for murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar, for taking care of his wife during her surgery at the Mumbai hospital.

The division bench of Bhushan Dharmadhikari and Atul Chandurkar dismissed the plea by Arun Gawli on Wednesday, seeking parole for himself, citing that its unclear whether his wife actually needs a surgery or not.

However, the Court has allowed Gawli to approach the court again if a date for surgery is fixed.

Earlier, the Maharashtra Government opposed parole to Anup Gawli by saying that his wife is not very serious for which he had to visit Mumbai.

Arun Gawli plea for parole was recently dismissed by the Divisional Commissioner Anup Kumar, after which Gawli approached the High Court.

Kumar had sought the suggestion by the Mumbai Police and the Mumbai Police informed that Gawli’s return to his residence in Dagadi Chawl might affect law and order in the state’s capital, which led to the rejection of his plea.
