Shiv Sena Ready To Join Venlinkar In Goa If He Floats New Party

Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, who has been made in-charge of Goa unit of Sena, has stated that Shiv Sena is ready to join Subhash Velingkar, ousted Goa RSS chief, if he floats new party to contest upcoming Assembly Election.

He told reporters that Sena’s support to Velingkar is not for any political reasons but for saving the ‘cultural identity’.

“We support the stand taken by Velingkar on the issue of maintaining the age-old culture of a particular region. If like-minded people come together for the cause, it would prove to be immensely beneficial for the people of Goa,” said Raut.

Raut, who had marathon meetings with Velingkar on Monday, further added, “If Velingkar floats a new political outfit, we are ready to take two steps and ally with his party... Velingkar should come forward and lead the alliance of both the parties.”

He said, “This is not a question of politics, but of saving our cultural identity.”

Subhash Velingkar, former chief of RSS-led Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) had opposed BJP government stand to provide grants to English medium schools in Goa and demanded ban on the same and promotion of Marathi and Konkani language as Medium of Instruction (MoI).

After he expressed his desired to contest 2017 Assembly election in Goa against BJP, he was ‘relieved’ from his responsibilities as RSS said that the member of Sangh trying to enter politics is against the ethos of the saffron organization.
