Though the government has been taking and implementing new steps to reduce the crime rate against women, yet many accidents are taking place daily. In Mumbai near Kandivli a five years old girl was raped by a drug addict man.

According to cops, the incident took place in the morning in between 3 am and 5 am yesterday. The five years old girl was dragged by a drunken man, she was sleeping with her mother and 4-year-old brother on the footpath in Saibaba Nagar, Kandivali. He took her to an isolated spot and raped her.

Police have brought CCTV footage of the rapist which was captured from a camera on the road and when the footage was shown to the victim’s mother she recognised the culprit.

In her statement to the Kandivli police, the girl’s mother has said, “A few days ago, when I was sleeping on the footpath, the man who can be seen in the CCTV footage attacked me and tried to rape me. He is a drug addict and was drunk at the time of the incident. He had been following me and had made lewd comments, but I had no idea that he would attack my child.”

Based on the CCTV footage and the statement given by victim mother, we will find the culprit very soon, said DCP (Zone XI) Balsingh Rajput.
