Bhopal Encounter: Madhya Pradesh Government Orders Judicial Probe

After the harsh criticism from the opposition parties on the encounter of 8 Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) by the Bhopal police officials, the Madhya Pradesh government has ordered the judicial investigation into the matter.

The Inquiry Commission will be headed by the Retired Justice SK Pande and the Commission will be investigating all the factors in the incident, along with the circumstances under which the terrorists managed to flee from the prison as well as the the alleged ‘fake’ encounter in which they were killed.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier ordered the National Investigation Agency-level probe into the matter. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had also issued a notice to the government, on Thursday, demanding the detailed report on the encounter. However, MP Home Minister Bhupendra Singh had said that there is no need of any probe into the matter.

Earlier, the 8 SIMI terrorists were escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail after killing a police security guard, Ramashankar Yadav. Several hours later, police found them within the area of 10 km from the central jail. According to the police they were armed and fired shots at the police. In retaliatory fire, police killed all the eight terrorists.
