After the escape by the SIMI terrorists, the Directorate General of Police was removed by the government along with suspending many other officials. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has also announced bounty of Rs. 5 lakh on each absconder.

The Police officials, however, gunned down the terrorists after eight hours and surprisingly, in this period the terrorists were managed to cross the distance of 10 km only.

Changing the earlier stand the escaped terrorists had no weapon while escaping from the prison, the police later said that firearms were recovered from the terrorists.

In the video, which was later published, a policeman is seeing firing at the dead or injured SIMI operative, who was lying on the ground.

The photograph also showed that the SIMI operatives wearing watches and new clothes, which are prohibited in the prison.

In the evening, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Yogesh Chaudhary had called the press conference and said that police fired in the self defense, answering the question how no policeman faced injuries in the exchange of fire, he said that there were injuries but not through bullet. For most of the difficult questions his reply was that the investigation has been initiated.

The lawyer, Parvez Alam said, “his is a case of murder. There are many loopholes in the story. I will approach the high court for a CBI inquiry.”
