Only a couple of days before Chirstmas, the weather in Kolkata has taken a turn towards the lower end of the thermometer. It was as cold as London on Sunday, according to BBC Weather, only a couple of days before Christmas. The meteorology department adds that the chill would remain in the city for a few more days.

While a dip in the temperature was expected, this was a drastic dip over the expected to a low of 12 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, the maximum temperature was 23 degrees bringing shivers on the next day. Though the temperature was just 12, the wind added to the chill making it feel like 8. There was only a four degree variation between the max and the min temperatures.

The sudden chill in the city was from the northern and north-eastern winds coming all the way from J&K where the temperatures were as low as -8 degrees Celsius.
