Thane Jailer Suspended For Alleged Molestation Of A Woman Constable

The Superintendent of Thane District Jail, Hiralal Jadhav have been suspended by the prison department after a woman constable accused him of sexual molestation.

“Serious offense was registered against Mr. Jadhav and such behavior from a senior cop is neither expected nor acceptable,” said DIG (Prison) Bhushan Upadhyay, confirming the suspension.

Earlier on August 31, the police had registered a case of molestation against Mr. Jadhav under section 354 of Indian Penal Code as a 31-year-old, woman constable, had alleged that Jadhav misused his position and outraged her modesty.

Mr. Jadhav had filed an anticipatory bail before the Thane     District Court and District judge M. M. Walimohhmed adjourned the hearing, calling for prosecutions reply.

Sources said that the woman constable was posted to Thane jail few month ago and had also requested the jail superintendent to settle the issue regarding her quarter (govt. accommodation) allotment.
