Kanpur Woman was sold for Rs 1 lakh, NGO rescued her from Mumbai

Divorced women who belong to Kanpur Dehat district from Mumbai have been saved by An NGO and two months back she was allegedly sold there for Rs 1 lakhs. Two years back the woman had been gone missing from her house and though the parents filed the complaint the police failed to take action on the case. The family members finally approached NGO for help and they stated that police had not registered their complaint and taken action to trace her.

The NGO chief said, based on the complaint they searched for the woman in various places in Delhi and Mumbai and based on the information provided by the women’s children and relatives finally we managed to rescue her. We traced the woman in Mumbai and she was held captive.

A case was filed with Akbarpur Kotwali on Wednesday and the woman was sent for medical examination. In her statement with the cops the woman stated that, she was lure by Sanju Tomar of Rania and taken to Mumbai and he sold her to unknown persons for Rs 1 lakh and She was sexually exploited in Mumbai for nearly two months.

"I was sexually exploited and beaten up every other day when I ask them to release me. If I ask them for clothes or food, I get severe thrashing," she said.

The cops are in hunt of Sanju and a case was filed under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping a woman to compel her to marry).
