Ten Coaches Of Jhelum Express Derailed; 3 Injured

The 10 coaches of Jhelum Express derailed in early hours of Tuesday morning near Ludhiana in Punjab. Three people have been injured in the incident, according to the reports, four trains have been canceled.

The train was departing for Pune, when the mishap took place. Additional Directorate General of Railways Anil Saxena said that rescue operations were underway. Saxena said, “Senior officials, medical and relief team have reached the accident site. Rescue and restoration work underway. Accident resulted in blockage of traffic on both sides, information on trains to be canceled and diverted is made available by Northern Railway.”

The Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozpur along with other senior officials have reached the site to examine the situation, reports said.

The four trains that has been canceled due to derailment are, Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity, Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity, Amritsar-Haridwar Janshatabdi and Amritsar-Chandigarh superfast.
