Cong former PM offered prayers when Babri was demolished

The upcoming autobiography “Beyond the Lines,” by famous journalist Kuldip Nair seems to put Congress party's future at stake.  In his book, he has levelled allegations against the former Congress prime minister P V Narasimha Rao. He mentioned in his book: “My information was that Rao had connived at the demolition. He sat at puja when the kar sevaks began pulling down the mosque and rose only when the last stone had been removed."

"Madhu Limaye (late socialist leader) later told me that during the puja, Rao's aide whispered in his ears that the masjid had been demolished. Within seconds, the puja was over", he mentioned in the book.

While Congress leaders claim that the opposition party was not secular, the recent allegations in the book is most likely to question the Congress party's secular approach. PV Narasimha Rao was the prime minister of India and completed his five years term.

Kuldip Nayar has also said that PV Narasimha Rao's government will always be held responsible for the demolition of Babri masjid. The political analysts have said that this book would most likely affect the presidential election.
