Does celebrities get favoritism even being guilty?

During Tuesday, the Bombay High Court made the Maharashtra government to face a question on reproduced extension of the parole granted to actor Sanjay Dutt. The actor has been declared guilty in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

A valid point indeed!

In addition, a Division Bench of Justices Naresh Patil and V.L.Achaliya noticed that one would generally not find such earnest effort in the case of an ordinary citizen. Dutt was convinced during July 2007 under the Arms Act. Of the 307 days of imprisonment so far, he has been out for 118 days. He was granted 30 days of furlough in October and then three months of conditional release. In his public interest litigation petition, a Pune lawyer declared guilty of raging misuse of parole provisions in favour of the actor.

He added, during the moment 600 applications were remaining undecided with the government, Dutt's appeal was processed in a matter of days. The government explained that actor was granted parole due to the reason of his wife's treatment of tuberculosis. On the contrary the court there were several cases in which people suffering from chronic ailments couldn't get parole because the police didn't submit a report on time. It further noticed at the same time emphasized that they don't mention because somebody is influential, his rights should be reduced. Being practical pain and suffering are common to all. On the contrary one needs to exercise the discretion properly. It's high time that they have addressed this issue.

What's the point of punishing the guilty if it accompanies several parole?

While disapproving to the 5,000 surety discovered from the actor for furlough, the court said that on several occasions in the past, it had directed the government to minimize the surety for poor prisoners. At the same time here they were known to support him for Rs. 5000. The judges emphasized the need for radical systemic reforms to address the undecided of parole and furlough applications. It asked the government to establish a committee of officials from Home and Law and Judiciary Departments for suggesting change made by correction to the law. It was known that the government will file its response in four weeks.
