Verizon To Handle Updates From Google To Pixel Smartphones

In a surprising development, newly launched Google Pixel smartphones, which are available for pre-order and comes with the Verizon, as a carrier, will not be getting the updates directly from the Google, according to the reports.

Reports said that in the phones with Verizon as a carrier, Verizon will be acting as an intermediary and will be handling the Google updates, which will be resulting into more delays for the updates to actually reach the smartphone.

According to the reports, Verizon will be working on the Google updates once they are ready according to their services and then will be providing to the customer.

However, buying phone from the Google Store will not affect receiving the updates whether its carrier is Verizon or not, as they were received on the Nexus smartphones.

The company has also confirmed that monthly Android security updates will be provided by Google even to the smartphones with Verizon as a carrier.

Purchasing Google Pixel of Pixel XL from the Google Store will also save the customer from the pre-installed bloatware which comes in the Google Pixel smartphones with Verizon as a carrier. Additionally, buying the phone on Google Store will also save customers form the headaches down the line, when the update hit the scene.
