MSK Prasad Seleced As India’s Chief Selector

The former Indian cricketer and a wicket-keeper MSK Prasad has been chosen as a chief selector of the Indian Cricket Team replacing former selector Sandeep Patil. Prasad will represent South Zone in the five-man senior selection panel.

The decision was taken at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai on Wednesday. Reports said that, according to the the Lodha Panel Guidelines, the decision will be sent the Supreme Court-appointed body for approval.

For the first time, BCCI had advertised for the post, reports said.

The 41-year-old former Indian wicket-keeper MSK Prasad had played six Tests and 17 ODIs scoring 106 runs in Tests and 131 runs in ODIs with a fifty. While Gagan Khoda’s term as a representative for the Central Zone has been extended, Prasad will be joined by new selection committee, Devang Gandhi (East Zone), Jatin Paranjpe (West Zone) and Sarandeep Singh (North Zone).

According to the the reports, the eligibility criteria for the post of the chief selector includes, A. That the candidate must have represented the Indian team either in a Test match or a One Day International or more than 50 first class matches in India and B. Candidate should not be part of any IPL team/management or part of any other league in the world.
