An Indian Woman Received An UN Honor For Corporate Sustainability Initiative

An Indian woman, president of Ayzh, for-profit foundation, Zubaida Bai has been named among the 10 “champions and pioneers” of under the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative by United Nations chief Ban Ki Moon on Friday.

Bai’s foundation ‘Ayzh’ has been working in providing health and livelihood solutions to impoverished women worldwide.
She was also selected in the list of 10 “2016 Global Compact SDG Pioneers”. It was an initiative launched by UN to search for entrepreneurs who can play an important role.

Ban Ki Moon said after announcing the list of people, “Congratulations the honorees. I count on their strong commitment and engagement to help businesses seize the opportunities of the SDG era.”

He added, “All of you are leaders in the campaign for a world without poverty, a thriving planet, a vibrant and inclusive global economy and a life of dignity for all.This is the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals, agreed upon by the Member States of the UN in September last year.”

World’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, The UN Global Compact, supports companies to do business responsibly with making their strategies keeping in mind the ten principles of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption and to take actions in proceeding with advance social goals such as UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with concentrating on collaboration and innovation.
