Australian actress Cate Blanchett, won the award for Best Actress at Britain's top film honours during Sunday. That was for her portrayal of a riches-to-rags socialite in Woody Allen's tragic comedy Blue Jasmine. Blanchett known to have been the favourite to win the prize and was best preference at the Academy Awards during March 2.

Blanchett dedicated this award to actor Philip Seymour Hoffman experienced death due to an unmistakable drugs overdose two weeks earlier.
