Dubai Women's Run 2013 with flying colours!

While causing absolute excitement more than 5,000 women known to have participated in the fourth edition of the Dubai Women's Run. The event took place at the Meydan Race Course. 27-year-old Milna Antony, Indian national, who completed the Dubai Women’s Run on Friday expressed that one she had crossed the km mark, there was a sudden surge of energy and it feels very empowering when that happens. She added that every runner knows this. It's addictive, it's empowering, and once you've completed a run in a set time, you want to beat your own record. Interestingly, The race was run by several veteran runners as well as first-time runners.

The fourth edition of the Dubai Women's Run seen more than 5,000 women participating in it which has taken place at the Meydan Race Course. Dubai Women’s Run was flagged off at 7 am by three time world half-marathon champion Kenyan Tegla Loroupe. Accompanying the patronage of the UAE Athletics Federation and Dubai Sports Council (DSC) the race was held in two categories such as 10km and 5km. Liesa Euton, who's the race director mentioned that the race had become bigger over the last four years. Euton added that this race is one of the several things that are inclined at creating a nation of active women. At the same time creating fitness in sports an essential component of daily living. Even though their prominent target is women and girls, it would genuinely gain with broader sense of success to experience the community being part of this initiative.

Additionally, first-time runner and another Indian national Shermeen Pradeep Kumar (25) expressed that the race is a special moment of all women as it brings about a sense of community of feelings among participants. Its honestly marvelous to experience so many women belonging to different parts of the world, and different sizes run to the finish line. Oneself gain the feeling of power due to the reason that oneself is about to cross the finish line and people oneself don’t even know cheering on us. That's something which would certainly make oneself run again. Then follows Katie F who expressed that this is her fourth race and she took part in the Standard Chartered 10km previous year and she can proudly say that her time has improved since then.

The prominently stimulating factor was that portion of the funds raised from the races known to be going to Breast Cancer Arabia. The runners who will be winners in the 5km and 10km races will get prize money of Dh10,000 each. On the other hand, the second and third-place finishers took home Dh7,000 and Dh5,000, respectively. Now coming to the winners, Zsofia Erdelyi of Hungary and Elena Korobkina of Russia experienced victory in the 10km and 5km races, respectively. Erdelyi clocked 33 minutes, 15 seconds ahead of Kalayu Yeshi Chekole of Ethiopia in the 10km run. Gladys Jemaiyo from Kenya came third finishing at 33 minutes and 54 seconds. At the same time Natalya Popkova from Russia came fourth concluding the race at 34 minutes and eight seconds.
