Akhlaq’s Murder Suspect’s Dead Body Kept Under Tricolor; Family Refuses To Cremate

A 22-year-old accused in the case of Mohammad Akhalq’s murder died on Thursday due to kidney failure. However, his body has been kept under the freezer in his home-town Dadri in Uttar Pradesh with a Tricolor and the family has refused to cremate his body till the government provides them compensation of 1 crore and action is taken against the jailer at the prison, where he was lodged.

Ravi Sisodia was among the 18 people arrested last year for the murder of Mohammad Akhlaq over the suspicion that he had kept and eaten beef in his home.

The family of Ravi Sisodia is demanding a CBI investigation into his death. The villagers as well are demanding the arrest of Mohammad Akhlaq’s brother, Jaan Mohammad, who had been named along with the other members of his family in a case of alleged cow slaughter.

Ravi’s family has alleged that he was kept in separate cell by the authorities and mercilessly beaten up few police officials inside the jail on September 30. They added that they suspect that he was poisoned.

However, the UP police has denied those allegations and said that Ravi had high fever and died from suspected dengue.
