Six College Students Drown In Sabarmati River

Six college students all aged between 20 and 21 years drown to death in Sabarmati River in Galteshwar on Thursday. The students belonged to various colleges in Sabakantha district.

Deputy Mamlatdar of Prantij Taluka, HS Parmar told a leading daily, “Of the six, two went inside the river to take bath. However, they started drowning and four others plunged inside to save them. However, they also pulled away into the deep waters.”

The victims have been identified as, Yash Patel (20), Kamlesh Patel (20), Ankit Patel (21), Vikas Patel (21), Jayesh Patel (21) and Ketan Patel (20). Yash was studying in the first year of Bachelor of Science (B Sc) in Talod college, while Jayesh was also a science undergraduate studying in Viravada college. Vikas was studying in a local Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Ankit had recently completed a course from ITI.

After about one hour of intense search, fire brigade team from Prantij and Himmatnagar towns were rushed to Galteshwar and bodies of the six youths were rescued.

Reports said that Yash and Jayesh were the only sons of their parents.
