Reports said that on a previous day while shopping at a local grocery store, Simmons saw a woman who was sad and unlike the other shoppers who passed right by her, Simmons reached to her and inquired about why she is said.

According to a leading news channel, he spoke to woman but she did not explain why she was sad. But Simmons, lifting her spirits, even paid for her groceries.

He said, “It was only $17, but it’s not about the money. It’s about showing someone you care.”

The customer at his restaurant was identified as the woman’s daughter and on the napkin the girl explained that her mother was trying to go about her normal activities on the third anniversary of her husband’s death.

Simmons was overwhelmed as he read out the message, “On one of the most depressing days of the year ... you made my mother's day wonderful," the note said. "You insisted on paying. Told her she is a very beautiful woman. I have not seen this woman smile this much since dad died.”
