Sonia Gandhi Confident On Congress Power With Full Majority

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on Monday, said that Congress will come back in power. Further the Congress president strictly said that there is no comparison between India’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and current Indian PM Narendra Modi.

While speaking to a channel, answering to the question of Congress’s political future, she said, “Absolutely, yes. We will come up.”

She further added, “The party would capture power from its present position of 45 seats in Lok Sabha. We will get seats for full majority. You win and lose in politics.”

While responding to the question whether her children can counter the challenge of Modi, she said, “Absolutely, absolutely.”

She clarified she was not at all troubled by the comparison of Modi and Gandhi and her party has been countering Modi government.

She said, “It (the comparison) does not trouble me because I do not believe in it. I have my own clear views about it. There is no comparison. Absolutely not. So much is expected of us because we have a certain surname, we belong to a certain family. We sort of gather some sort of inner strength to make it possible for us to face such things”

Mrs. Gandhi said, “Every era in politics or history has its own problems, its own leaders and its own opposition. I think the Congress party is taking on the present dispensation.”

Answering question about the absence of dynamic leader in Congress who can take Modi’s challenge, Sonia said, “I do not agree with that.”

While responding to the question whether her son Rahul Gandhi as well as her daughter Priyanka Gandhi will take ahead the political legacy of the family, the Congress chief exclaimed that she is not the right person to decide or respond. She even denied that Indira Gandhi or herself promoted dynasty in the party.

She said, “Just like in the family of doctors, professors, businessmen, one or the other person within the family will choose the same path as the father... In politics, you are elected and defeated democratically.”

Mrs. Gandhi further added that she joined politics to carry forward the values of her mother-in-law and of the Indian National Congress.
