The bodies of a couple found in a resort near Murti river in Jalpaiguri district, according to the reports.
Police said that 52-year-old man came with a woman on Wednesday morning and booked a room at Murti River Resort. He had described them as husband and wife.
The Hotel staff said that a man named as Om Prakash Harijan, who said he is working as a cashier in a nationalized bank entered the room and didn’t get out. The senior staff of the hotel said, “In the evening, we had some suspicion and started calling them, but there was no response from inside. We then peed through the window and found the duo dead. We informed the police immediately.”
Reports said that in the evening police arrived at the resort and broke open the door in front of the magistrate and recovered the bodies and sent them for post mortem.
An investigative officer said, “Apparently, it seems that the woman was strangulated to death by the man and then the man killed himself by slitting his arm. However, until the autopsy reports come nothing can be said for sure. We are trying to find the whereabouts of the man and the woman.”
