All India Majili-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, admitting that there were lapses from their side, spoke on his party’s recent derecognition and banning from contesting Maharashtra Civic Polls by the Election Commission on Wednesday.
According to reports published in Times of India, Owaisi over the phone has admitted ‘that there have been lapses on our part’. Owaisi said, “We have requested the state election commission to condone the lapses but it appears that it is too late in the day. We have written to the commission as well. We will appeal or ask for deregistration of the party.”
Owaisi had retweeted his party leader in Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel’s tweet, in which he had said that the party will appeal to Maharashtra EC against ban on AIMIM.
Will appeal with Maharashtra EC against ban on AIMIM for not filing returns. Party will contest local body elections due in few months.

The AIMIM chief also explained that the deregistration of his party will not stop him from campaigning in the upcoming election and candidates to contest independently, which the EC state chief J S Saharia, had clarified while banning the 191 parties among the total 359 parties registered in Maharashtra.
