Trupti Desai Entered Haji Ali Dargah

After the supporters stopped her to enter the dargah, Bhumata Brigade leader and equal rights activist Trupti Desai entered the Haji Ali dargah on today morning in the city. Although Desai entered the dargah, he was stopped short at going to the area where women are not allowed. She said she will do that  next time.

While making clear that she prayed women will again be allowed in the inner sanctum like they were before the year 2011, she said,”We will try to visit the inner sanctum next time, This is a fight for gender equality”

“I went till the point where women were allowed to go and offered prayers,” today added Desai. There was a tight security during her visit to the dargah and the police were helpful she said.

Trupti Desai, who has successfully campaigned for the entry of women in Hindu temples like Shani Shingnapur and Trimbakeshwar, tried to enter the Haji Ali dargah as well on April 28. A huge sea of protesters stopped her in doing so along with many Muslim political parties as well as leaders who said that the entry of women in the dargah is not supported by Islam and the case should be filed in the court about the issue.

Big ruckus was created in the area on that day and after stopping her to enter the dargah. Trupti Desai was heading to CM bungalow when she was caught by the police in the middle.
