Government Says Chinese Intrusion Due To Confusion

After the reports sent by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army soldiers infiltrated the Uttarakhand and chief minister Harish Rawat confirmed the same, the defense sources in South Block have said that the infiltration caused due to the differing perceptions of the border.

Defense sources said, “Transgression continue to happen along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on account of differing perceptions of the border.”

“In the Barahoti incident, a small detachment of PLA (not more than 4-5) came across our own patrol in the area. The incident was handled as per mutually agreed drills. It did not last for more than few minutes,” they added.

Earlier, in the report by ITBP it has been said that the Chinese soldiers transgressed the Yangtse region of East Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh on June 9, during the time when China was opposing all the efforts by India to join the elite Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). Reports said that although Chinese soldiers pulled back in less time, they targeted the district administration team that had gone in the area for the inspection.

After the reports came, Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat had confirmed the reports and he had said that he was sure that the center will take cognizance of the issue and the appropriate measures will be taken on the diplomatic level.
