March For Democracy: Congress Leaders Voracious March

Under fire, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the vice president Rahul Gandhi will march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on today against the alleged ruling party’s plan to ‘systematic assault on democracy’. The march was earlier planned against the ousting of the ‘Congress governments’ in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. But under the scrutiny of the AugustaWestland chopper scam, the Congress leaders are expected to revert back on the government offensively.

The rally will be addressed by Sonia, Rahul and former PM Manmohan singh and will be aiming to divert the public opinion to the alleged Modi government’s plan to ‘systematic assault on the democracy’ and ‘damaging institutions’. Jairam Ramesh, a Congress party leader, has accused that the “government’s only agenda is to fix Congress party into the AugustaWestland bribery case”. He has scolded hard, both the Subramanian swamy as he believes in blackmailing and Narendera Modi as Jagat Guru of all this farce. “The government believes in the politics of blackmailing. Swamy represents the politics of blackmailing; he represents the politics of insinuation and the Jagat Guru of all this is Narendra Modi”, He said.

Congress which is at the receiving end on the role in the issue of the Ishrat Jahan case and the VVIP chopper deal, is expected to raise the issue of JNU, HCU and the Allahabad university in the rally.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also retaliated against the March for democracy by the Congress leaders through social media and the supporters has trended #ScamQueenOnRoad across all the social media platforms. BJP has alleged that Sonia Gandhi is trying to hide from the AugustaWestland case and want to divert people’s opinion.

March for democracy is indeed the clever decision by the Congress party leaders to hit back at the government on AugustaWestland case and to divert the attention of the people from it. This march has been clubbed with the intolerance march the party had decided earlier. BJP has retaliated on the issue just in time.

To protest against something is the right of every Indian citizen and no one can disagree with it. BJP government needs to get this in mind and should try to focus more on the investigation of the chopper scam to get the culprits behind bar. Congress needs to clear the smoke on their alleged role in the scam and should concentrate on the party building instead of playing the victim card.
