No discussions : Opposition on Sushma Swaraj’s resignation.

As per the agenda, an uproar about Sushma Swaraj’s resignation on Tuesday (July 21) sprouted. A united opposition stalled the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha over Lalit Modi issue. While the defending government called it running away from the debate, the Upper House saw repeated adjournments before it was finally adjourned for the day as opposition refused to subjugate.

"Please start a discussion immediately. You don't want a discussion.... You don't have to press your case for a discussion. I am making an offer and would suggest... if they want to start a discussion, then start it immediately. If they want a statement from the External Affairs Minister, we are ready for it. Sushma Swaraj will make a statement within five minutes," Arun Jaitley said.

Amid objections from the treasury benches to his remarks, Congress members trooped into the Well of the House and raising slogans for her removal.
The opposition charge was led by Congress leader Anand Sharma, who moved an adjournment motion.

Sitaram Yechury also insisted that Sushma Swaraj resign pending investigations.

Jaitley also said that the opposition had given a notice under Rule 267 for suspension of Question Hour and proceedings and to take up a discussion against Sushma Swaraj and some state leaders, including Chief Ministers.

Jaitley, however, said state issues cannot be discussed in Parliament as per past precedents and the federal politics of the country.
The Lok Sabha was today adjourned after paying homage to a deceased member Dalip Singh Bhuria, but Rajya Sabha was disrupted by the opposition led by the Congress.
