It's wonderful to see women behind the camera

Versatile Nandita Das, who will be seen accompanying her husband Subodh Maskara in forthcoming Spanish film "Traces of Sandalwood", will commence shooting within a month.

Interestingly, Nandita expresses that the film will be shot here and in Barcelona. She, while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Mumbai Film Mart (MFF), which endeavors to find completed and under-production Indian films potential international buyers said that she will be going to Barcelona in a month from now to start shooting for her film.

While saying about the film she mentioned that it's named as “Traces of Sandalwood”. In fact, the whole crew seems to be women dominated one since it's wonderful to see a women cinematographer along with women art director behind the camera. It would undoubtedly ensure to have an interesting dynamics. Nandita added further that the film will be shot in in Barcelona and Mumbai. She's a director who has beyond 30 films to her credit. Nandita, who has directed critically-acclaimed "Firaaq", believes film festivals create more space for independent films.

Nandita continued saying that she has done more than 30 films and most of them have been in the independent space. She don't have DVDs of the most of the films due to the reason that they couldn't be released. While many of the independent films suffered the most due to not having the skills otherwise platform to release their films.  She expressed that while she don't understand the market world still because even she she had to face similar challenges for her film 'Firaaq'. It's marvelous that film festivals are presenting an opportunity for several independent films. Nandita feels that more the number of festivals would ensure full of cheerfulness for young filmmakers as well audiences.  It was known that Nandita was invited as a special guest to support MFF, which will continue till Sunday. Moreover, six Indian films such as "Hunterrrrr", "Haraamkhor", "The Unseen Sequence", "Placebo", "Illai" and "Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyu Aata Hai" are being manifested through an initiative called India Project Room which happens to be a subsidiary of MFF.
