Plucking is the new way to cure baldness

The scientists at the University of Southern California (USC) in the US have find out the new way to treat the baldness. They say that plucking hair stimulates dense growth of hair in that area.

The researchres proved it by carefully plucking 200 strands of hair, one-by-one, from the back of a mouse in a specific pattern which resulted in the growth of around 1, 200 new hair strands in the area. The researchers explain the reason for the fivefold increase could be due to the trauma caused by the hair being plucked triggers an immune response, as the skin follicle sends out a kind of distress signal via the release of inflammatory proteins. This causes immune cells to rush to the site of the injury and secretes a molecule in response and these signals to the plucked follicle, and other skin follicles in the vicinity, which promotes new hair.

The regeneration of hair depends on the pattern of plucking. When the team pulled 200 strands from an area on the mouse’s back exceeding a 6 mm-wide diameter, they didn't observe any regrowth at all. But when they repeated the process, plucking individual strands in circular areas between 3 and 5 mm, they saw some big returns, with between 450 and 1,300 new strands emerging.

So researchers have revealed plucking as the new way of treatment to cure baldness. Than going for the painful and costly surgeries of treatment, doctors could use this method as a new therapy.
