Story

Rock On was a huge success for Farhan Akhtar as well as the crew of the team. Therefore, we had huge expectation from Rock On 2. Rock On 2 story revolves around four important characters in the movie. Aditya (Farhan Akhtar) is thrilled by a freak incident happens in his life and currently is in state of seeking redemption in Meghalaya. He has immersed himself in the humanitarian causes. Joe, the guitarist played by Arjun Rampal is the owner of a club in Mumbai and judges a reality show. Although he is rich, he is insensible after truckling to mediocrity. However, KD, played by Purab Kohli, still hopes for their band getting reunited and create magic, which they were known for. How Aditya meets Jiah (Shraddha Kapoor), and how his life along with the other members of Magik takes a 360 degree turn, would be great to see on screens.

Analysis

Although a new and fresh movie, Rock On 2 fails to give what is required for the full fledged entertainment. The film tries to do a lot of things at the same time and hence fails in doing almost all the things. However, it has a refreshing story which has been portrayed by talented actors such as Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli. Watch the film without comparing it with its predecessor. 

Performance

Farhan Akhtar is the main highlight of the film apart from Shraddha Kapoor, who has worked really well in the movie, especially in few emotional scenes. Prachi Desai also has worked well. Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, too has worked well. Although the film fails to recreate the ‘magik’ o the Rock On, the film has its own story and kudos to the director Shujaat Saudagar for showing different side of the lives of the band members. Music was the best part of Rock On in 2008, however its sequel fails to entertain the crowd with the new music. The camera of Mark Koninckx has also performed well in showing the beautiful pictures on the screens. The backbone of any film is its script, and with Rock On 2 it has been a big thumbs down. The story loses its plot due to the absence of few strong conflict points.
