Review Ramleela Certificate: Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to reconsider the U/A certification given to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's recently released Ram-leela movie within four weeks. On a petition filed by Sandeep Shukla, a member of the Congress and vice-president of Shree Maharashtra Ramleela mandal, a division Bench of Justices V M Kanade and M S Sonak opined that the CBFC did not apply its mind while granting certification to the film and directed CBFC to review the movie again.

Sandeep Shukla claimed that the film's title is misleading and the contents have hurt the religious sentiments of Lord Ram and Hanuman followers. The bench of Justices also said, “CBFC should take utmost care while granting certificates to the movies and make sure sentiments of people shouldn't get hurt.” However producer and director of the film, Bhansali was not available to comment on this.
